    Birks sterling marks varied throughout their history which helps us to date their pieces. The earliest Birks silver mark () was a retailer’s stamp of H.B. & Co. added to the pseudo marks of Hendery & Leslie (at this point Hendery & Leslie manufactured Birks silver). Their second mark was introduced when Birks bought out Hendery.
